Searching for mixtapes, EPs and record labels

I think it would be quite useful to have a way to sort the highest rated albums of the year (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/6-highest-rated/2017/1) based on their format. For example, the default would be to show LPs, but you could select “all” or just search for the highest rated mixtapes, EPs, singles, etc. At the moment I don’t believe there is a way to search for the highest rated EPs or mixtapes without relying on what users have tagged (which is usually incomplete).

It would also be useful, when looking at an album page, for there to be a hyperlink to the record label. That way, if you are a fan of a particular label you can click on the link and easily find all the other albums on that label as well as upcoming releases.

Also, I was wondering how the highly anticipated albums are determined and ranked? (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/discover/anticipated/)

Yepppp, that label feature has been something i’ve been really hoping will be added to the site some day, next to our ability to make our own custom lists.

i think the anticipated thing is determined by the amount of people that save the album to their library.

I appreciate the suggestions, and hope to be able to come through on them sometime in the future.

As for the anticipated list; it’s a combination of saves to users libraries and user ratings. Not everyone uses the save feature so early ratings of leaked albums is a good indication of the popularity of an unreleased album.
