Let's use this thread to post our favorite albums released during 2017. It's still early, but there's plenty of good releases on the horizon.
What are your favorites so far?
Sangam - Purpose
the only album so far this year that I've really come close to loving, but with all of the recent announcements for new material coming up, i can tell it's gonna get fantastic soon
a ton of great EP's out already though. maybe a bit too many good ones....
Right now I'm really liking Xiu Xiu's new album. That's about it so far, but Julia Holter, Dirty Projectors, Mount Eerie, Timber Timbre, Jesus & Mary Chain, Thundercat, and Sun Kil Moon are all around the corner, which is going to be insane.
My favorite so far has been Nothing Feels Natural by Priests. I love their somewhat old school and minimal flavor of post-punk. Plus they have an A+ vocalist.
It's looking like that Sampha album is going to be in close competition, though, if the singles are any indication. And of course there are a bajillion upcoming projects that have been announced in the past couple of weeks that could easily surpass anything we've heard so far.
January albums of the Month
I still have to play Ty Segall, Sohn and a few others. If you guys have any January releases that went under the radar, please let me know so I can play!
Right now top 3
Out of what I've listened to so far, I'd have to say something like this:
1 The xx - I See You2 Wiley - Godfather3 Bonobo - Migration
After 2 months:- Wiley: Godfather- Denis Sulta: Nein Fortiate- Bonobo: Migration
As far as songs goes, Sampha absolutely killed it with "Blood On Me".
The only album I've been completely sold on so far is Thundercat's Drunk. Excited for the debut album from Charly Bliss, they've been releasing some great singles.
Dirty Projectors - Dirty ProjectorsJesca Hoop - Memories Are NowKing Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana
What a great year for music so far this year. freaking amazing
Almost 1/4 of the year has passed, here's my currently top 10:
Mount Eerie's 'A Crow Looked at Me' is so painfully heartbreaking that I would feel ashamed if I put it between my favorites.
