Best films of 2018

Cold War Like Ida, the directors last film, every frame is a work of art.

A Quiet Place Not a perfect film, but a really enjoyable take on post-apocalyptic alien movies.

Manifesto Technically it was released a few years ago but the art installation version just came to NZ. Thought provoking, overwhelming, and annoying, I saw it in an art gallery with individual scenes playing on 12 different screens at once throughout a large room. They all sort of sync up for 10 seconds or so every 10 minutes. Amazing performances by Kate Blanchett as 12 different people giving philosophical/artistic/political monologues which are pieced together from manifestos across a wide range of times and locations.
