Easier Notifications?

As a avid user of the site, I’m kinda annoyed in how subtly hidden the notifications on this site are. I feel like many of us on the site would appreciate either emailed notifications or another tab in the profiles, much like the feed system that is currently in place. I know notifications do exist on the site, but it could be much easier to find.

Yeah, I’m looking to add a link to notifications to the user drop down menu. I think I need to improve the page first though.

Email notifications wouldn’t work right now since user emails aren’t stored in the AOTY database.
