Thinking about doing a deep dive of rating and occasionally reviewing 50+ Japanese albums to expand my horizons but I can’t really find a good best of list, maybe something similar to the rolling stone top 500 in the US? I know there’s a Rolling Stone Japan 100 list but it’s so undiverse to Japanese Rock and a lot of it sounds the same when there are so many different genres to choose

Not a connoisseur on the topic but Ken Ishii’s Jelly Tones was something else when it came out in 1995.

Les Razilles Denudes aren’t included on that list as they have no proper studio albums but they’re one of the most essential Japanese bands. It’s worth checking out one of their projects.
