AOTY should include other cultures music genres, and not only commercial ones — most importantly historically existing folcloric music around the world, since the “folk” tag is usually associated to north western acoustic/roots music.
For instance, Fado, Pimba, Canto Alentejano and Tuna are portuguese folcloric music genres that do not fit into any tag.
This obviously becomes a really extended list if you thing about all of the music genres in Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian, Chinese culture, and the list goes on — and this perpetuates the problem of the best-of lists of each year becoming almost english speaking from top to bottom.
There should be way of adding new genres when approved by an X number of users.
